This is what happens when you drive 6 hours to a motel in Cadillac Michigan at 2 am after I spy a mustache machine in the lobby. Attractive eh?

The real reason for the trip, skiing!

I was able to capture a few runs with the Garmin before it died. Check out the mountain sans snow.

No kids-based professional events this year, so we got plenty of runs in. For dinner Saturday, we walked across the street from our hotel to a different larger hotel. Our waitress informed us that there was a bar at the other end of the hotel. She warned us that it draws some interesting characters. For this reason, we had to check it out. Meet Brother Ed.

Brother Ed was about 5′ 6″, 250 lbs, and had hair down to this arse. He and some friends had driven their snowmobiles over to have some cocktails. I also learned that he loved Katy Perry’s music and used to be addicted to drugs. He was actually very kind and just having a great time. He would just disappear to the dance floor and dance like a goof without caring, then come back and check on us. It was fun to watch. This place was a menagerie of hipsters, jersey shore types, snowmobilers, skaters, trying-to-hard girls. It had it all, including terrible cigarette-hole-burned-rittled green carpet. This face describes the place best…

Sunday brought more skiing since I opted not to board again due to the lack of powder. I’ll save that for Colorado. After Sunday, I can say I don’t need to see Caberfae for a while. It was fun but I don’t think it can hold my interest for another weekend next year. We’ll have to keep going north or just change states.
