Let’s See-attle Some Orcas (Day 2)

I’ve been waiting for this moment my WHOLE LIFE! Bring me my orcas!

Untitled

Our boat arrived for the last tour of Orcas in Puget Sound. Cool thing about this boat was it had a front open bow and stern.

Untitled

So the driver said “Hold on!” We are going to cruise out at 40 MPH to get us to the whales as quick as possible. Then you can get out in the open air. Good man, let’s go!

Untitled

When the first dorsal fin showed up, I cried. I’ve had a dream of seeing Orca whales in the wild since I was a little girl. It took all I had not to jump in and just let life take it’s course!

Untitled

These creatures are AMAZING!

Ocean hair, don’t care!

Untitled

We were very fortunately to run into a super-pod of Orcas. About 20! AHHHHHHHHH! So that meant a few pods got together for some socialization and play. The boat crew lowered a mic down into the water and you could hear them communicating to each other. AHHHHHHHHHHH! This was an experience on a whole other level. Normally you only see 3-4 at a time. We got 20. Thank you Orca Gods for blessing us with this experience! I will never forget it.

I’ll work on some better video. For now, here’s a short clip. Look for the fins and water sprays from them breathing out the blowhole. Think white water misting.

Let’s See-attle (Day 1)

More travel? Yes please! I asked K if we could sleep like this while in Seattle.

Untitled

While AM had to work, we took advantage of doing a few activities that she’d already done. Let’s see the Seattle Aquarium! We were greeted with the Window, a 120,000-gallon exhibit filled with more than 800 fish and spans 20 x 40 feet. That’s a tank.

Untitled

Lots of variety in fish and exhibits.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Then some WTF is that tanks?!

Untitled

Untitled

The Underwater Dome was pretty cool. Fish were swimming everywhere. Especially when the diver came in for the daily feeding frenzy.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Except these guys.

Untitled

Untitled

I had to ask the why these fish were settled, not moving, and even upside down. They are called rockfish and can control their buoyancy by deflating or inflating their swim bladder. They just looked so grumpy!

Estrella, Zoltars wife, read us our prophecies. We waited for Big to happen, but we didn’t switch bodies.

rUntitled

Next stop was the Chihuly Garden and Glass experience. Oh man! THIS WAS AMAZING. I don’t have enough words to describe the beauty behind this man’s art creations. From the very 1st exhibit, my jaw was on the ground.

Untitled

2nd room was a massive collection of pieces, shapes, and colors.

Untitled

I couldn’t get enough of this room!

Untitled

Untitled

Chihuly Garden and Glass

I learned Chihuly was inspired by Native American colors and patterns.

Untitled

Each room just dazzled us with color and brilliance.

Untitled

Me standing in front to show you how massive these pieces are.

Untitled

Untitled

There were bowls…

Untitled

Boats full of imaginative pieces. We felt like we were in Willy Wonka’s garden!

Untitled

It keeps going….

Untitled

My favorite piece, this pointy orange chandilier. Just gorgeous!

Untitled

Glass house ceiling was covered in floral pieces.

Untitled

Even the gardens and outside walkways had pieces.

Untitled

The rain couldn’t stop us from having a great experience.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

This exhibit is right next to the Space Needle. This neon green thing, is glass!

Untitled

Mama commissioned me to purchase a piece for a several hundred dollars. Sorry Charlie. We aren’t even close!

Untitled

PhilHarmonious

Mom signed herself up for a new fundraiser to support the Fort Wayne Philharmonics. Which signs us up for work duty. Our first task 6 months ago was to come up with the event name. During our brainstorming lunch at The Merdian, CS took the prize and named the event PhilHarmonious. We all agreed it was a great name! Now it was time to celebrate.

Cold pea mint soup? Come on.

Untitled

Half a spoon was enough for me and the Herbs.

This evening’s special guest was a prior White House Chef, Mr. John Moeller.

I believe he delivered a wonderful menu, I may just have one of the most bland palates on the planet who will never enjoy something like this. The steak came out looking amazing yet not to my bland palate. Now Mimi, would have loved the temperature of this dish. Hair dryer style. Dad and I, we want less pink.

Untitled

Our wonderful server was able to bring us some more well done steak and our table started trading like a swap meet so that everyone really enjoyed their meal. Dessert was a replica of our Chef’s cook book cover.

Untitled

I did try a bite and it was delicious! Throughout the evening, I was privileged to meet the people that keep this organization running like Andrew Constantine, their Music Director.

Supporting my Mom and all the Foundations she supports, I tried my luck at the jewelry surprise…

Waaah-whhhah. 21 was picked! Whatever. Nothing can ruin the fun I always have with these good looking people!

Art Installation

Previously.

Normally it’s a muddy race that leaves my shoes looking like this.

Untitled

Not this time. All the rain made this year’s Broad Ripple Art Fair a muddy mess.

Untitled

On the way down it was raining on 86th street. I chanted to the rain gods, No rain at 67th Street… No rain at 67th Street… Luckily the rain stopped just in time to enjoy the Preview Party!

Untitled

I was ready to level up our title sponsorship area. I was dreaming of doing an Art Installation for the weekend.

Untitled

Thanks to Primary Colours and the Indy Art Center for making it happen! I remembered one year, the BRAF had a chicken wire dome that you could weave strips of cloth through. I loved it. Clean, simple, for all ages! We decided on a flag shape for our area with matching flag colored cloth. Saturday morning, it looked like this.

Untitled

Throughout the weekend, families would join in and add layers to our beautiful flag! By the end of the weekend, you could really see it come together.

Untitled

The final product will be on display for Flag Day then become a permanent piece in the Installation Nation event.

Untitled

You’d think that would be enough, but I had the icing on the cake to add this  year! And it sat right across from our area so I could keep an eye on it!

Untitled

The OneAmerica Lego® Tower!

Untitled

We have a general raffle every year, so this year I decided to add a guessing game to it. How many Legos® make up the Tower? 3 lucky winners were really close!

Big Fun for ICC

A new reason to get fancy!

Untitled

Grabbed a few friends and attend the annual fundraiser for the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. It was not just another chicken dinner.

Untitled

Everything was so delicious!

Untitled

Untitled

I heard the dessert was great, not my thing but it looked pretty!

Untitled

We didn’t win anything in the silent auction. Maybe the live auction will treat us better! We didn’t get the front row seat, this guy did… well, I guess that’s ok since he and the Mrs. were the event’s Honorary Chairs!

Untitled

We were treated to several songs by the different choir groups. Several. Feedback to the group would be to cut down some songs. It was a long event. Long.

Untitled

Very grateful for the experience!

Pay It Forward Works!

I was on my way to work. Had some wiggle room in my commute, so I turned into Starbucks to get a breakfast sandwich. Me hungry. Egg-bacon-gouda, delicious! I let a car go in front of me from the side exit. Everyone is going somewhere but I had time to wait.

Untitled

The Starbucks gentleman hands me my sandwich as I hand him my credit card. “No need. The girl that was in front of you paid for your sandwich. She said thanks for letting her in line.” My face and mouth dropped. It works! I love it!! Please pay it forward! #bekind2oneanother

IRT Radio Show

Previously.

Was lucky enough to attend the IRT Radio Show this year. It’s the only fundraiser I attend that is like a comedy roast. It was a star studded cast! Name dropping here… Pat McAfee, Tom Griswold, Mayor Hogsett. Check out the full cast on their website.

Untitled

Where else can you hear Indy’s elite community members making penis jokes, talking about Cialis, dropping F-bombs (that was only McAfee) and dropping their guard. Kudos to them for keeping it real!

Adam DeVine-entines Day

We needed some V day plans. Luckily Clowes Hall had something in store for us.

Untitled

It’s been awhile since we’d seen a comedy show. I got an email that Adam Devine was in town. We’ve seen him in a few movies and love his character on Modern Family. Let’s do it!

Untitled

It was a solid show by a short little guy. Adam Ray opened, wasn’t familiar with him but he was good. I saw him in the lobby during my restroom break, but I had priorities over pics. He liked to pick on the front row. Audience ribbing is always funny. One of the highlights was them including the Sign Language Interpreter into their show. I’m not familiar with Workaholics, but I will be soon after the profanities these guys were making this seemingly nice lady sign. Double D shake, so romantic.

After the show we traded cards… guess who got a puppy?!

Untitled

Pay It Forward

Untitled

It works. Try it.

A friend, who is also a co-worker, got sneaky on me a while back. While I’m in the lunch line behind her talking to another friend/co-worker, she secretly bought my lunch. I go to hand the cashier my card and she kept saying “You’re good.” Me, “What?” It was like a who’s on first moment. I just wasn’t getting it. She finally spilled the beans and said my friend had bought my lunch. Awww shucks. I text her later that day and all she asked was that I pay it forward. Today, I found a great moment to do just that.

I was up early and hungry. That formula is always solved with a Starbucks Gouda and bacon egg sandwich. On my way to work, the only drive-thru Starbucks I pass is downtown. It’s always a nightmare drive-thru line. It usually moves nicely, but there are 2 entrances and you know how people get before they’ve had their caffeine. I was at the side entrance, and a nice lady in a white SUV let me go in line in front of her. I asked the cashier to put her bill on mine. Felt really nice and fitting for Valentine’s Day. Spread the love and #payitforward. @HaleyJoelOsment.

Ladies Day Out

I love friends with similar interests! K planned a Mom & Daughter day for us. On the agenda, theatre production of The Sound of Music. I’ve never seen the movie but I always think of Ricola when I hear the title. Count Momma & I in! There was a photo opt spot in the lobby, so the family in front of us offered to swap cameraman duties with us. The lady taking the picture was having trouble. She kept saying, “This box thing is popping up?!” So as I walk over to help, she moves my assisted touch dot and got the camera working!

Untitled

Sadly K’s momma couldn’t make it with the weather, so Spawn invited a stand in who fit in perfectly!

Untitled

Before the show started, I shared a Tweet – I’m trying to keep up with technology or as the kids call it, social media. At intermission, I got this from the lead actor!

Untitled

Mr. Ben Davis, an Indianapolis raised artist! Love seeing these guys come back and entertain in the city that molded them. First, Josh Kaufman. Now Ben. I might look into shows a different way now. Support local! Great show!
