Happy 4th Of Ju-Live Music

This holiday weekend happened to include lots of live music.  Weber Grill hosted the inaugrual Indy BBQ festival at Victory Field.  I wasn't interested in the BBQ, but definitely was interested in the band line up.  No one peaked my interest for the Friday shows, but Saturday had 3 groups I wanted to see.  I had already seen 2 of them before but for $8 admission, I'll see them over and over!

First up was Rev Theory!!!!  B took me earlier this year to a show in CO, so it was nice to see them on my turf.

Really enjoy their sound.  CS even caught some schwag!  I was and still am very jealous he found this!

Saving Abel was next.  I'm not as familiar with all of their songs but I did get to hear all the ones that I knew.

I didn't even know what these guys looked like before they got on stage.  Not sure about the green lei on the mike, but I liked the purple faux hawk.

Puddle Of Mudd rounded out the evening.  Wes looked pretty foxy in the beanie and shades, but I was glad to see him take them off shortly into the show.

The only complaint that I have is wanting to section off the crowd into "sober", "drunk", and "obscenly drunk" groups.  Guess that's what you have to deal with in general admission.  If the VIP seats (fenced off first 10 rows) weren't $40 each and we didn't have 5 people in our group, I would have considered it.  It was a long, hot day on a black tar parking lot.  But it wasn't bad enough to stop me, myself, and I from going back Sunday to see a group that I have loved since 1992.  Gin Blossoms!

Robin Wilson, the lead vocalilst, had the most crowd interaction I had seen all weekend.  He was tossing out a few tamborines to the ladies in the front rows then kept cycling them to other chicks to keep things lively.  He was great about getting people to clap and participate.

He even ditched the stage and jumped up on the VIP fencing and walked down it to smack hands with the gen. pop section.

They played all the classic hits I knew and finished with Hey Jealousy, of course.  Probably an old school move, but I liked that he introduced each member of the band during their set.  No one else I saw did that.  Pretty good weekend of entertainment for just $16!
