I've never been a huge wearer of makeup. My day to day get-ready routine is a layer of Aveeno lotion, followed by brown eye liner and a neutral toned eyeshadow mainly to hide any eyebrows that might need plucked. As K and I have had our date nights, we decided we wanted to learn how to do smoky eyes to enhance having to look at each other. Since my Mom is regularly trying to pawn off her free makeup goodies on me, we called her in for the trip to Sephora this weekend. Couldn't let her miss this twice in a life time experience. You see the first time I had my makeup done, it was for a Glamour Shot photo. Talk about pancaking it on. And like any good mother, she made me walk around the mall with big hair and bright cheeks the rest of the afternoon.
I found a young chic at Sephora, told her I have no clue what I am doing and let her run with it. We picked out some powder and eyeshadows then started in on the smoky eye. I did jerk back a few times when she applied stuff. Not like I forgot what I was doing, just startled a bit having someone else doing it. K watched to take notes because we'll probably have to try this on each other before we'll figure out how to do it on ourselves.

The girl finished and I was about to hop out of the chair when Mom says "Put some blush on her!" Ok, fine. Let Mama have her moment. The girl puts one coat on and Mom says "Hit her again!". Ok, twice was enough. But here comes Mom again, "Put some color on her lips!" No. Drawing the line there. K went next to get her purple smoky eye. This time I recorded it so we have our own training video to study. Mom got a few touch ups done too and after $85 I was out of there with some new products. That craps expensive and another reason not to wear it! Aren't we so gorgeous now?!
Come to find out, I didn't need to spend $85 on makeup to look like that. I can just spend my money on this instead!
