Run #2 for the weekend. This race was all about fun. Each year I heavily recruit to get as many Boilermakers as I can to sign up for the Big 10 5k. This year I had 10, but 2 had to drop out for bullshit some reasons. Our "stand out" item for the costume this year was........ the foam finger!

We each wore one black and one gold finger during the race. They doubled as gloves, which was a good thing because it was freakin cold on Sunday. But that didn't keep about 1,000 people from participating.

I wasn't sure how well I would perform. I'd been stretching and applying mineral ice for the past 3 days, so I hoped my legs would just get in motion and go. As you can tell, I'm very anxious to get started.

I've only been running on trails and doing hill training and I think it's paying off. This road race was a breeze! My legs felt great. I didn't look at my watch once. Just wanted to keep my feet rotating as fast as they felt they could go without getting psyched up or psyched out about a pace. I cruised across to the finish at 23:38! I think thats a 5k PR, need to go check my prior stats. I had a lot left in the chamber. Could have ran a bit harded, but my goal wasn't too kill myself. That comes in 3 weeks. My legs still felt good enough to run back to the Purdue cheering section 2 blocks away to grab my camera so I could run back and snag a pic with this guy!

After everyone finished, we headed to Scotty's for some carb loading. While there, JWeave calls to say TBack won something! Turns out he AND our cheering section won Most Spirited Fan!

See costumes do pay off! Our cheering squad...

I had a blast. Love that we capitialize on previous costumes each year! Now we know how to win prizes too! Thanks to all that ran for the Boilers! Purdue also won the team division for the 2nd year in a row! If only our basketball team could pull that off...
